When visiting Phoenix, one should not expect to find beautiful and lush nature landscapes or amazing tourist attractions. There is no space needle or central park, crashing waves on sandy beaches or bridges built to the magnitude of Golden Gate. Instead, Phoenix has 10 months of incredibly picturesque sunny weather, closely neighbors Scottsdale with golf courses & resorts to rival any state in the US.
The best reason to visit Phoenix is the mexican food.
It's not an unknown fact that the state of Arizona closely borders Mexico. Which means we have the real stuff, cheesy burros, incredible tamales, the BEST salsa you've ever tasted, and endless homemade tortillas.
If I had to narrow down my favorite sit down mexican restaurant in Phoenix, it would have to be Mi Patio. Close to my work, my coworkers and I are there at least once a week. So far, whenever I've had a visitor in town, I've taken them to this place! There are several other spots that I consider top-notch, but with Carolina's being non-airconditioned, I have to hold off during the summer, and Los Compadres is more of a walk up/take out kind of place.
To think these three restaurants are only the tip of the iceberg with Mexican food in town, which makes me a very happy girl!
Happy & full friends. They loved it too! Especially Alex, who finished 3/4 of Lauren's burrito AFTER finishing her full plate of fish tacos, rice & beans:) Sorry to put you on blast...but that was unbelievable. So proud.

My fiance and I are always on the lookout for delish Mexican food. Our fave so far is La Tolteca on Van Buren and 12th St.
ReplyDeleteI've wanted to try Carolina's, and we'll definitely have to hit up Mi Patio. Thanks for the info!
