Our 3rd anniversary celebration was a success!
Planned at the absolute last minute, I decided to throw together a picnic in the park, followed by an evening in my apartment with chocolate fondue & treats to dip.
I'll spare you the mushy details but its safe to say I'm pretty smitten:)
Tempe Town Lake has a beautiful park that sits right alongside the water, spotted with picnic tables and benches perfect for an evening outside.
For dinner I made pressed Italian sandwiches, homemade coleslaw & of course bought some cheddar and sour cream chips to go with it. Not the healthiest but some picnic traditions cannot be messed with.
We had such a nice time sitting in the park, cellphones hidden away for the evening, talking, fighting over hummus & hanging out. It's easy to forget how nice it is to take a break from the rest of the world and just sit.
One unexpected visitor, was a swarm of about a zillion gnats. So disgusting. I tried to fight the fact that I was so FREAKEDOUT by the bugs that kept divebombing my hair (thank you, hairspray), but eventually it got to be too much and we had to move away from the water.
After dinner, we sat & watched the sunset.
Then headed back home for dessert!
Angel Food cake + marshmallows + strawberries
+bananas + kiwis + chocolate
= Katherine in heaven.
Definitely our best anniversary yet!
I'm SUPER DUPER impressed by those sandwiches and your dessert! Wow! Talk about presentation :) Happy anniversary! Our favorite dates have always been picnic in the park dates...looks like you guys have the right idea.

ReplyDeleteBefore is starts getting to blistering here in AZ I want to squeeze in as many park dates as possible...so much fun!
